Effanbee Doll

Effanbee dolls dominated the toy market during the early 20^th century and have lived on as treasured collector’s items. Made first of composition and later of plastic and vinyl, these dolls come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and values.

Effanbee dolls have been continuously made through the present, but it is the dolls from the first half of the twentieth century that are most sought after. The Dy-Dee baby was one of their most popular dolls, and was one of the first dolls to drink and wet realistically. Effanbee dolls were made as small as six inches, and as large as almost 30 inches.  Early composition-material dolls are the most valued, although any of the novelty dolls in their packages with all accessories can be sold for a premium to doll collectors. Because there are many high quality reproductions, including those made by the Effanbee company itself, collectors should be careful to make sure they are buying a truly vintage doll and not a less valuable replica.
