Strawberry Shortcake Doll
Originally a greeting card design, Strawberry Shortcake
quickly grew to become a beloved character among little girls born in the
1970’s and 1980’s. The Strawberry Shortcake dolls and their ‘friends’ each had
a dessert theme that matched their clothing and assigned personality. The dolls
and related merchandise smelled like their particular dessert. Kenner produced
Strawberry Shortcake dolls and merchandise until 1985, when the character line
and the corresponding television specials were temporarily discontinued.

Strawberry Shortcake had a solid fan base that has stayed loyal throughout the decades. These dolls now can sell for hundreds of dollars. As with other vintage dolls, Strawberry Shortcake dolls are worth more in good condition and/or in the original, unopened box. These dolls were the focus of many American girlhoods, and that power lives on in this millennium.
