Rainbow Brite Doll

Rainbow Brite dolls are based on a popular children’s television show of the mid 1980’s. Most vintage Rainbow Brite dolls and toys are made by Mattel, although Toy Play became the main manufacturer in 2004.

Rainbow Brite dolls are generally worth more if they are in good condition and in their original packaging. The Rainbow Brite of television had several side kicks and secondary characters that also appear in doll form. A Rainbow Brite doll made in 2004 leaves out the color green when reciting the colors of the rainbow. Because the company fixed this mistake quickly, these dolls are collector’s items despite their relatively young age.

A variety of Rainbow Brite dolls were made. In addition to the standard 16-18 inch dolls, there were large pillow dolls, small PVC figures, and poseable plastic figures with yarn ponytails. Rainbow Brite is a popular character in 80’s nostalgia, and it’s easy to predict these dolls increasing in value as they become older and rarer.
